2. What Kind of Windows Do You Use?
We use only high-quality, energy efficient, maintenance-free windows. We offer a wide selection of styles, which come framed in PVC (vinyl), aluminum clad, hybrid (PVC inside, aluminum clad outside), and wood clad windows. We order our windows from local Calgary manufacturers like Lux Windows and Ply-Gem that build high quality custom-made window products with great warranties. Since we are a high-volume purchaser and reseller, we can get you prices, most often, lower than if you dealt with them directly!
3. Which Areas Do You Serve?
We service Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane, Banff, Okotoks, High River, Chestermere, Strathmore and surrounding areas.
4. How Long Have You Been in Business?
Our history in the window service industry dates back to 1985 when co-owner Rob Hornberger worked with his Father and brothers in his window cleaning business. In 2004, we started Calgary’s first foggy window repair business, Fog-Out Window Solutions. In 2014 re-branding took place and Go-Green Windows and Doors Ltd. was established focusing on the best energy efficient ways to repair or replace your windows, depending on your needs.
5. How Do I Know you are a Credible Company?
Go-Green Windows and Doors Ltd. is our second company opened after Fog-Out Solutions Ltd. We have been operating in Calgary for approximately 13 years without incident, building our reputation in the industry. We deal on a regular basis with reputable suppliers such as Lux Windows and Ply-gem Ltd. We are also a member of the BBB with a five-star rating. We are also licensed, bonded and Insured with $2 million liability insurance.
6. Why Repair Windows Versus Replace them?
If a window can be repaired, we aim to repair it. Our repair services can extend the life of a window, restore the R-value while saving you a lot money. Repairs normally cost less than 60% of the cost of a new sealed unit. Since we are a “Green” company, we try to keep as many windows out of the landfills as possible.
Some people may be tempted to just leave damaged and unrepairable windows. This is not recommended as it can lead to permanent damage to the windows, framing, and surrounding walls, ultimately creating a costlier repair and replacement fee in the future when work has to be done or at the time of sale.
7. Can All Windows be Repaired?
Due to major seal delamination and/or moisture damage, some windows cannot be repaired. Our Go-Green representative will be honest and tell you whether a repair or new window is the answer to your window issues.
8. Should I repair or replace my sealed units?
Repairs can sometimes take days or even up to a few weeks to completely dry out all the moisture inside a window, so for people that don’t want to wait or may be selling quickly, replacement may be the best option. We offer some of the quickest and affordable prices on replacements.
Repairs have a 10-year warranty, replacements have a 25 year warranty.
If you want to upgrade your clear windows to energy efficient Low-E/argon windows, it will keep your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer and can double or triple your R-value.
9. When Should I Replace my Windows?
There are a few clear signs that can help you decide if a new window is required. Ask yourself these questions:
- Is the room where you have the windows, cold and drafty or get condensation or ice build-up?
- Are the frames or trim rotting, cracking, or missing?
- Is the glass broken or cracked anywhere?
- Are your energy bills increasing even though your rate and usage is the same?
- Are you unhappy with the appearance of your windows?
- Are you selling your home and need to upgrade the curb appeal of your quickly?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you might benefit from a new window installation.
10. What are the Benefits of Replacing my Old Windows with New Energy-efficient Windows?
Your home will look beautiful and it enhances the “curb appeal” and value of your home.
Reduces your heat and energy costs normally between 10 – 30% on average.
Eliminates significant amounts of UV damage from sun’s rays on carpets, furniture and curtains.
Your home will be quieter and less drafty due improved technology in dual and triple pane window construction and installation techniques.
Virtually no maintenance due to use of vinyl and aluminum cladding.
Improves home security as new windows have better locks and designs.
11. How Good is your Warranty Compared to the Competition?
We feel we offer the most secure warranty in the window and door business. For window repairs, we are the only company to offer a 10-year, complete money-back guarantee. If we can’t keep the moisture out of your windows, we will give you 100% of your money back or apply it towards a new sealed unit or window of your choice.
For new windows, we offer a 20–30 year manufactured warranty. What makes us better is the fact Go-Green augments the manufacturer warranty with an industry leading 10-year Labour/installation warranty. Most manufacturers will replace faulty materials but charge for Labour. When you purchase new windows or doors through Go-Green, you are covered for both, longer than most of our competitors.
12. How Much Do your Services Cost?
Window repairs normally cost between $100 to $295, depending on size, location, and condition. Sealed unit replacements normally start at $200 installed. Prices are based on size, location and condition of the window.
Full Window replacements normally range between $450 to $1,000 installed, depending on size, location, style, and type of window. There are so many options available, so to get a more accurate price, please contact us with exact window sizes or ask for a free in-home estimate.
13. How Long Does It Take for Repairs and Replacement Installation?
A Foggy window repair normally take 15 -30 minutes, per window. The work is done on the exterior of the home; therefore, we can even do the work, when you’re not home if you’d like. Sealed unit replacements normally take 30 – 45 minutes per unit can be done within a week of your order date or for emergencies, within a day or two.
Full window replacements take approximately 1-2 hours for complete installation. In both cases of replacement, the glass or window is only out of it’s opening for 5-15 minutes, so we can replace windows even during colder months, all year round.
